Trail to Wiregrass Spring (view N from cabin) |
Wiregrass Spring Trail
The trail to Wiregrass Spring departs from Hidden Forest Cabin and runs north about 250 yards to the spring. There is no formal trail, but the use-trail is easy to follow, if a bit steep.
Upon arrival in the spring area, hikers first encounter the wildlife drinker, a metal water basin that lets creatures drink without having to come down to the water pipe at the cabin where the presence of humans would prevent them from drinking.
Check out the place, consider the presence of wetland plants in the arid mountains, perhaps watch a few birds, but don't linger here -- the wild creatures probably are thirsty.
This is an in-and-out trail, so follow your footprints in the dust back down the hillside (or consider continuing up to Hayford Peak). |
