General Description: Crevice Spiny Lizards (Sceloporus poinsettii) are large, heavy bodied lizards of rocky places with a black collar and very large and spiny-looking scales. Dorsal banding is especially prominent on the tail, and males have a blue belly.
Taxonomy: Phrynosomatid Lizard Family (Phrynosomatidae).
Diet: Insects and arthropods.
Range: The species occurs from southern New Mexico to central Texas and south into Old Mexico.
