A small dove with "scales" |
General Description: Inca Doves (Columbina inca) are small, slim, gray birds with a scaly appearance. In flight, they show red in the wings, and the outer tail feathers are white. Inca Doves look like Common Ground-Doves (Columbina passerina), but Inca Doves have longer tails, and the entire edge of the Inca Dove tail is white. These doves are small, not much bigger than the sparrows and finches they displace at seed feeders.
Taxonomy: Columbiformes, Columbidae.
Favored Habitat: Urban areas.
