General: Gooseberryleaf Globemallow (Sphaeralcea grossulariifolia) is a lanky subshrub with deeply divided leaves and globe-shaped, orange flowers. The flowers of this globemallow are smaller than the more common Desert Globemallow found at lower elevations.
Sepals less than 11 mm in length. Petals about 11 mm in length.
Gooseberryleaf Globemallow is a common component of vegetation communities in dry, well-drained gravelly areas on upper bajadas and into the mountains in the Upper Sonoran (Pinyon-Juniper Woodland), Transition (Yellow Pine Forest), and Canadian (Pine-Fir Forest) life zones.
