White Rock Spring Detour
As an alternative to the regular White Rock Loop Trail, hikers can take a short detour to visit White Rock Spring.
When hiking the White Rock Loop Trail clockwise, at the White Rock Loop - White Rock Spring trail junction, the regular trail stays left (straight) while the White Rock Spring Trail turns right.
Follow the White Rock Spring Trail down to the spring pool. After enjoying the quiet solitude of the spring and listening to the birds, the detour continues downhill just west (left) of the large Singleleaf Pinyon Pine that sits in the gully just below the spring pool.
Following use-trails, hikers pass the left edge of the pine and then the left edge of large sandstone boulders. Beyond the boulders, the use-trail improves and continues to connect with the main trail.
For hikers doing the White Rock Loop Trail counter-clockwise, watch for a well-used use-trail heading towards the large Pinyon Pine. |
