Fortification Hill Trailhead is located in Lake Mead National Recreation Area, south of Hoover Dam, along Highway 93 on the Arizona side of the Colorado River, about 1 hour southeast of Las Vegas.
From town, drive out towards Hoover Dam, then continue south on Hwy 93 over the bridge for about 2 miles to Exit 2, Kingman Wash Road (Site 0793). Exit the highway, turn left, drive under the highway, and continue east and then north on the dirt Kingman Wash Road.

At about 3.2 miles out, a road intersection (Site 1423) to the right is marked only by a pair of restrooms (no road sign). Turn right onto Fortification Hill Road and drive southeast, then northeast for 2.6 miles to a wide spot on the left with a small trailhead sign (Site 0510). Park here; this is the trailhead. If drivers miss the trailhead, the road ends in about 0.2 miles.
Fortification Hill Trailhead primarily provides access the Fortification Hill route, which leads to the summit of Fortification Hill. Hikers may also drive another 0.2 miles up the road to a fence, then hike northeast and up the canyon. |
