Entrance to Slot #1 (view S) |
Overview
Deep within Death Valley Wilderness Area, Sidewinder Canyon is a moderately strenuous hike up a steep gravel wash to several amazing narrow slot canyons that cut into the walls of the main canyon.
Presented here are photos of Slot Plus One (Slot #1). Slot #1 is the fourth of the side canyons encountered while hiking up the main wash, and this slot is the first of the interesting slot canyons. The entrance to Slot #1 is located about 150 yards up a broad side canyon, but the actual entrance is the most abrupt of all because it requires a bit of rock scrambling and a tight squeeze to get started. This slot is deep, narrow, and dark, so be sure to bring a flashlight.
