Ash Springs

Overview

The Ash Springs Petroglyph Site is an area of lightly desert-varnished boulders on a low hill overlooking the verdant Pahranagat Valley. Ancient people apparently liked the view, as they used the site as a winter camp. While there, they flaked stones, broke ceramic vessels, and etched the rocks with scenes of bighorn sheep, human figures, and intricate designs of all sorts.

Listed here are details of Site 5, which is a little confusing. This site consists of three boulders with petroglyphs. The first boulder is the backside of the Site 4 North Boulder, which is where Hallelujah Man can be found. From Marker #5, this boulder is to the southwest.

The other two are a round boulder and a flatter boulder, both of which are to the northwest from Marker #5. The flatter boulder contains a curious petroglyph, perhaps a big scorpion. The round boulder takes some imagination.
