The Henderson Executive Airport (FAA Identifier: HND), is located on the south side of the Las Vegas Valley, south of the Las Vegas strip and west of Henderson (3500 Executive Terminal Drive, Suite 100, Henderson, NV 89052). The Henderson Airport was designed as a high-end, "reliever airport" to take pressure off the busy Reid International Airport and to create a premier corporate aviation facility that would provide an attractive, convenient, and economical alternative to Reid (very nice public restrooms). My impression was that Henderson caters to celebrities and others who don't want to be exposed to the crowds and cameras of a large, international airport. As such, there are no designated plane spotting facilities, and my impression from talking to the staff was that they didn't want me around asking questions. The area is a public, county-owned facility, so public access is legal outside the fence.

There are places outside the terminal building that provide acceptable plane spotting. This small airport is fairly quiet, and tall chain-link fences block the view, but plane spotters can shoot through the fence or around the gates. The road south of the runway provides good views of departing aircraft.

Vivaldi Park, a city park off Seven Hills Drive, offers decent views of the runway. At the south end of the parking area, a bit of a dirt hill in the corner closest to the airport makes an okay sitting and plane spotting area for the north end of the runway. In addition, a walking path leaves the southwest corner of the park and runs south outside the airport fence parallel to the runway. The park is located on Seven Hills Drive at Nestled Peak Drive (1249 Seven Hills Dr.) and would be good during morning hours when the sun would at your back.
